The Rise of The Governor novel was surprisingly good. It's a little generic, but the sequel has a lot of potential. I was irritated for most of the book because Phillip was a crazy douche the who time, when they made it out like they were going to be telling the story of a normal guy slowly losing it. Having the Governor actually be his brother was a good twist, but I think I would have enjoyed it more (on the first read-through, at least) if they had just made it clear from the start.
I really hope they kill off Lori this season.

It was good! Judging from this episode and the previews for the season, it looks like they're going to be sticking really close to the comic this season.

Second episode was really good too. This bodes well for the rest of the season. If they keep up this pace, they might get through the whole prison arc in one season after all. Also, I see they've adopted the comic's "introduce new characters so they have someone to kill five minutes later" philosophy.

I liked her death in the comics much better, but this way worked well for the show, I think. They never really did anything with her character, at least this way they managed to redeem her a bit.
Feels a bit like they killed off T-Dog so they can introduce Tyrese.

This week's episode started steering it back to being crappy, IMO. -This show cannot write women characters AT ALL. Andrea and Michonne are two of the coolest characters in the book, and both of them are being utterly ruined by this show. Andrea is totally oblivious, and Michonne has one mood and one facial expression. And we're supposed to sympathize with her suspicions about the Governor, but then you realize that we (the audience) know way more about his shady side than she does. -Are you telling me they haven't even TRIED to look for Carol? "Well, here's her bandana, she must be dead." -According to the producer on Talking Dead, that bloated zombie that Rick stabs ate Lori's body. All of it. By itself. WTF? Comic spoilers: -Let's hope they don't push the Governor's zombie daughter plotline as far as they did in the books. We don't need that. -Rick's getting his "phone calls" already? -If the prison arch ends like the comic did (the Governor and his army leading an all-out assault on the prison), how is that going to work? Our main survivor group is like a third of the size it was in the comic, there's no way they could stand a chance.

They had nine months to prepare for a baby, and nobody thinks formula might be a good idea? The way they're handling Woodbury is awful; nothing going on there is interesting. It really feels like they just don't have enough to do at the prison so they're using Woodbury as filler. Also, I get the show not following the comics exactly, but it's annoying the crap out of me that they're not being consistent with the novels being written at the same fucking time.

And they're really pulling their heels on building up the Governor's character. If he's going to do all the awful shit he does in the comics, they're gonna have to ramp up the ick factor soon, or else it's going to be too sudden a turn.

The last episode had some good stuff, but they still keep throwing in unnecessary shit to add drama. Michonne couldn't have told Andrea "Hey, that dude tried to kill me and he's got a fucking wall of heads in the back room"? And Darryl getting captured was dumb, there was really no reason for it beyond what looks like them maybe offing him so Tyrese could take his place as the #2 guy.

I loved Carol in the last episode. "well isn't that interesting." "....no. No, it isn't" BAM

The season finale was pretty bad. The way the comics handle The Governor story line is better in every way. I don't even know why I'm still watching anymore, it's more soap opera than anything else at this point.

God, that episode pissed me off so much. This show is fucking TERRIBLE at drawn-out plot lines, and now they're stretching out The Governor's story into another season?! This season needed to end like the comic: The Governor and co. assault the prison, he and a large chunk of Rick's group die, and then the survivors leave the prison.
There was so much logical inconsistency, too. Why did they gather up the rest of the people at Woodbury and take them back to the prison? Woodbury is certainly bigger, more secure/comfortable, and has more supplies. And it's not like they need to defend themselves THAT well: the Governor only has two guys with him! Rick's got what, like 20 now? And Rick fucking better have gone back to the road and picked up the armored vehicles and shitloads of heavy weaponry that the Governor just left there.
At least they killed off Andrea. God, what a disgrace that character was. She's awesome in the comics, but they TOTALLY fucked her up on the show. She was so terrible at everything that I half-expected her to miss when she tried to off herself.
