I just got back into the genre again, after somehow forgetting how incredible it is. Recent bands I've discovered/re-discovered: Pale Saints Ride Swirlies (looove, you can download some albums here. I would recommend Blonder Tongue Audio Baton and They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days... ) Lush And of course I love My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, etc. I like the dream poppier stuff rather than the noisier side, but I do enjoy some noize as well. Post favorites or recommendations. I'm looking for more songs like Vapour Trail by Ride and For Love by Lush. Basically the "happy, yet melancholy" side of shoegaze I guess??

happy/melancholy should lead you to Asobi Seksu and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.
if you like the heavier side of shoegaze, check out Nadja. incredible.

I was just listening to Radiance of Shadows yesterday. I also like Citrus a lot by Asobi Seksu, but I didn't like the new one as much. What should I get by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart?

they have a self titled full length and an EP called Higher Than The Stars. both are solid gold.

also, look into Black Tambourine, who were a Baltimore shoegaze act. really fun. all of their output fits on a half hour record, too!

I don't listen to too much in this genre (mostly just things that have been mentioned, Slowdive, TPOBPAH, Asobi Seksu).
I downloaded Blonder Tongue Audio Baton, which I really like. I need to listen to more shoegaze-y bands.

I just downloaded the ten Black Tambourine songs, they're really good! Thanks. I'll listen to the self titled Pains of Being Pure at Heart after.

Moscow Olympics (http://www.myspace.com/moskva80). I discovered them a few months ago and they're really good.

Moscow Olympics are great! The Gamefaqs alternative board goes nuts over them, which is how I found them.

I'm gonna be all over this thread like fuzz on a peach, y'all don't even know. Goddamn, I love shoegaze.

I downloaded Blonder Tongue Audio Baton, which I really like. I need to listen to more shoegaze-y bands. Pretty much. This record is pretty bangin' right now. The guitar tones and effects are all over the fucking place. And its melodic but sometimes technical and experimental. I'm really digging this.

I usually find music made with Nintendos or whatever gimmicky as hell, but In Her Gentle Jaws is a solid album.

I love shoegaze, but there aren't many bands I actually listen to. For instance, I've somehow never really checked out Slowdive despite having known them for many years.
I was just listening to Nowhere by Ride, which is probably one of my favorite albums.

I need to check out most of the bands in this thread. The only ones in here I listen to a lot are MBV and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

Has anyone heard Fleeting Joys? I thought Despondent Transponder was from 1992 or something, but it was released in 2006. Awesome.
Also, I really liked the self titled Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I had avoided them for a while because I thought they were a generic indie rock band.

Yeah, both of those albums are pretty awesome.
I've been listening to the new Beach House quite a bit, and while it's not necessarily shoegaze, it does have some dream pop elements. And I don't really want to start a new thread saying how much I love it to no reply.

Dude! I've been wanting to start a thread on Beach House for forever, but I'm afraid no one's going to reply either. Haha.

Aw. Haha. I totally would have replied if you guys started a Beach House thread. I love them! I still haven't heard the new album, but I totally dig "Norway." I need to pick it up one of these days.

Beach House are pretty great. I like the shifting synth tone on Norway a lot. sounds all seasick and fucked up.

I saw Pains... play with The Depreciation Guild. It was awesome. They definitely share a guitarist, dude is cute.
I'm not much into that kinda showgaze, more black metal type stuff. As in the new Alcest, fucking hell, it's good.
